No Super-Hero Christians

This week I have been reading 2 Corinthians.

The Apostle Paul wrote this second letter around 55AD to the church he started in the city of Corinth (in modern day Greece).

In chapter 12 he reveals something very personal, that he had a ‘thorn in his flesh’ which prevented him from becoming arrogant.

It is unclear what this ‘thorn’ was and Paul had prayed on several occasions for God to remove it, but God replied...

My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.
— 2 Cor 12:9 The Passion Bible

The ‘thorn’ was a reminder to Paul that God was the one working through him and it was not his ‘super-power’.

It kept him from becoming a Christian celebrity!

God did not remove the ‘thorn’, but His better solution was a grace fuelled divine power working through Paul’s human weakness!

God desires to work through you!

If you want this, then stay humble and allow God’s grace to sustain you and God’s power to flow through you!

We are not super-hero Christians!
